omi · flood funds for any river on Earth
Flood money that arrives before the water does.
The water on this screen is the Niger at Lokoja, Nigeria, today. When the river reaches the red line, every family in the fund is paid in USDC, automatically. No claim forms. Nobody in between.

The Niger at Lokoja · highest flow of each year, 1997
Nobody told the rules which years were bad.
They picked 1999, 2012 and 2022.
Red line: flood level, 26,538 m³/s, the flow it reaches about once in 10 years
2012 and 2022 were Nigeria's two worst flood years in decades.
3 payouts in 29 years means covering a family for $100 costs a donor about $10 a year.

The terms, fixed in the contract before the season
- Flood level. The flow this stretch of river reaches about once in 10 years, from its own record.
- Early payout. 30% of the cover, once, when the forecast median reaches the flood level within 15 days.
- Full payout. The rest of the cover, once, when the river has been at or above the flood level 2 days in a row.
- Who gets paid. Households registered before the season starts. Nobody can be added once a flood is forecast.
- Every reading waits. One hour before it can move money; a guardian can stop one that doesn't match its source.
- Where money can go. Only to the households of the fund it was given to. Nobody can change these terms mid-season, including us.
Not a mock-up
It already paid out, on-chain.
